Applications
MEIS proteins have been implicated in various cellular processes including regeneration, stem cell/progenitor function, cellular metabolism, cell proliferation, redox state, apoptosis, RLS and tumorigenesis. MEIS inhibitor-1 inhibits transcriptional activity of MEIS proteins by targeting the homeodomain of MEIS proteins.
We have used our proprietary tools and expertise in MEIS biology to develop MEIS inhibitors. We have performed in silico, in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo assays to validate small molecule MEIS inhibitors. Newly developed small molecule MEIS inhibitors are cell-permeant, and dose dependent. They could be used to target MEIS related pathways.
MEISi-1 can induce hematopoietic stem cell proliferation and self-renewal ex vivo and in vivo. MEISi-1 may downregulate expression of MEIS1 target genes including Hypoxia inducible factor (HIF)-1α and HIF-2α, and associated glycolysis genes HK2, Eno1, Glut1, and LDHA.
